“It was unfortunate. It was kind of an interaction with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a swarm of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, our fans. The whole venue was brimming with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the gesture was completely accidental, occurring amid the elation following the team’s last score. “I just showed the incorrect digit,” he noted. “It was accidentally done. This is sincere. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got corrected pretty quick.”

- Panthers owner David Tepper was penalized $300K for throwing a drink at spectators in January 2024.
